Beekeeping for Beginners and beekeeping basics. I am pretty proud of some of the hive footage we managed to get on film, you might want to turn on the high definition option on this story. We also talk about winter beekeeping, beekeeping protective clothing and beekeeping supplies. We dive in much deeper into beekeeping suits and show you the benefits of beekeeping
Queen Laying Eggs Workers Tending a Queen
This short clip will show the Queen honey bee going around and laying eggs in cells. Very beautiful!
This is an HD video I made of honey bees tending a queen bees on new comb. The hive was started approximately 2 weeks before this clip. I used a Panasonic TM700 HD camcorder on fully 1080p setting with a macro lens attached.
Drones
Drone honey bees are male. They do not have a stinger and really don’t work in the colony at all. Their sole purpose is to be available in case a new queen is raised and needs to mate. In this case about a dozen of these drone bees will fly into the sky with a new queen and mate with her. After the mating process the drone will fall to his death. If a drone does not mate with a queen in his life he is kicked out of the hive when the season changes and the weather cools.
DRONE sentenced to death by Drone Eviction. Unique bee behavior. See the worker bee chew on her brothers wings and evict him from the HIVE
The male drones don’t have a stinger and as such, are powerless against the worker bees (their loving sisters) even though they are 30 percent larger in mass. Only a few will remain in the hive as a precautionary backup plan should the queen fail to continue to lay eggs for any reason.
